As the world is currently going through tough times amidst the Covid-19 pandemic we find ourselves in lockdown in our homes in order to keep the most at risk members of our community safe.
Our newsfeed is being overwhelmed with content including home workouts and challenges to keep us busy and active. This is essential as exercise is important to maintain health and well-being, mentally as well physically. I will be creating Mixed Martial Arts and body weight specific programmes that I use myself during lockdown to contribute to other content that is being released online. I have been teaching classes of this style to the special task force police in Oman for the past 2 years, you can contact me via direct message if you wish discuss specific training tailored to your goals during isolation.
On par with the importance of exercise it’s important to maintain a healthy diet especially during this current pandemic to ensure your body has the strength and resilience to protect you. To do this I employ a nutritionist and 6 out of 7 days a week I stick to his plan tailored to me. Every Friday I allow myself the evening to stray from the schedule and indulge in some snacks, this helps relieve and manage mental stress, boosts morale and allows me to enjoy spending quality time with close family.
During this Friday of sinful snacking we have had a meaningful discussion over a game of monopoly as to which snacks rank the highest and why. They go as follows starting from number 5.
5) Reeces pieces white chocolate cups.
With the perfect balance of the sweet white chocolate and the bite size peanut buttery goodness of each cup these snacks are the perfect grab and go option. we have found that they are not however Ideal for sharing and with the current two item limit in stores this leaves you limited to who gets a taste.
4) Wine Gums
After a lot of debate about the best gummy sweets we came to the agreement that wine gums are the best. Some gummies can be too sour, sugar coated or bland however the wine gums seem to satisfy everyone’s taste buds and can be shared easily (if someone doesn’t mind the yellow ones)
3) Mr Kipling Battenberg cakes
These Battenbergs are especially for the ones amongst us with a sweet tooth, they don’t disappoint as they are easily the sweetest of our suggested top 5. Can be simply divided amongst family as they come in individual packages of 2 cakes. Perfect to have on the side and at the ready while playing board games or while waiting to fight your way out of the Gulag on Call of Duty Warzone.
2) Co-Op Bakery Flapjack Bites
An easy decision for number 2 is the Cooperatives very own flapjack bites, they have the perfect soft consistency with a buttery melt In your mouth taste. Other flapjack brands have been vigorously tried and tested but all fell short to the co-op bakery. Warning these bad boys will keep you going back for more.
1) Tescos Finest: Sea Salt and Cider Vinegar hand cooked crisps.

Undisputed champion has to be Tescos finest salt and vinegar crisps, they were carefully compared against the also highly recommended co-op version however the difference being this bag emphasises the flavor of the vinegar much more than the salt and this this leaves you constantly reaching in the bag for more, they have proven to be perfect to binge watch a series on Netflix with if they last that long!
These are our hand picked top 5 but feel free to join in and comment with your top 5 snacks during lockdown. Also if you’re struggling for workout ideas during this time contact me directly for a program. Stay Home and Stay Safe. (unless venturing out grabbing these 5 “essentials”) 😉.
